Intel Ranking Tool

I thought this assignment was really interesting. This could definitely be a good tool to use in the classroom. It gives students the opportunity to discuss the reasons they ranked the items the way they did.
Maria was partner and she was really great to work with. We decided to use her subject area because she is actually teaching right now. We chose Macbeth and we did a ranking tool on who was responsible for King Duncan's death. It was really neat to see it all come together. We put our ranking tool on a Google Site and here is the link to it. I hope we did everything right.

Screen Grab Correction

I just noticed I forgot one little #1 in address to my screen grab assignment. Here is the correct link.

Photo shop

This activity was really fun. I liked editing the photos. I think I will probably use photoshop more that I know how easy it is. Here is a link to my album :) Not all of the photos were edited, but you can probably tell the ones that were. Here are three of the photos I edited as well. The one of my twin sister casi and me, we were originally wearing pink shirts.

Web Album

This project was fun. I usually just share photos through facebook, but you have to be my friend to view them. This lets people who don't have facebook be able to view my pictures. How you enjoy my album :)

Online Graph 2

I added the percentage graph as well because I didn't think the numbers graph accurately portrayed things because WV's enrollment was so much lower, even though we had the highest percentage, we had the lowest numbers. The other two states that switched were Utah and Mississippi, while the are .5% off from each otherUtah obviously has the higher enrollment. Another thing intersting about both graphs is that the poorest states don't necessarily have the highest IEP. I think another thing that is interesting is that Kentucky and WV have the highest AEP and we are neighboring states. Maybe geography plays a role. Not just the lay of the land but maybe there is something about where we are located (Applachian Mountains maybe). Just an observations I had.

Online Graph 1

This assignment was pretty simple with using the graph tool from Kid Zone. I think it would be very easy for students to create a graph online for a project. I decided to embed my graph into my blog post.
As for how WV stacked up against the national average in math scores. We were a few point behind every year. I thought one thing that stuck out to me was that in 2003 WV average was 231 and the national average was 234. Two years later in 2005 the WV average had stayed the same while the national average increased by 3 points. This shows that WV was stagnate while the national average went up and this is not a good thing. Every other year that was reported there was an increase. And all in all, WV doesn't seem to be behind that much in the national average, but I believe we need to strive to be above the average.

Reading Resonse

I found this to be rather time consuming and didn't enjoy it as much as a lot of our other activities. I know this is part of our learning process as well. Here is my narrative about the article :)

Screen Grab

I did a search on the internet through Yahoo for a fall scene. When I saw the pictures that came up that is when I decided to put the quote on it that I did. Obviously it isn't my quote. I hit the print screen button on my laptop keyboard and then pasted it into paint. I had to erase the boarder that would be on the acutal screen like the start button and the tabs at the bottom of the screen. Then I used the text box to add the quote. The picture ended up being 202 KB and was saved as a JPEG file. I think the idea of modifying pictures found online can be very useful for visual learners. Hope you enjoy my picture :)

Graphic from Scratch Part 2

I didn't really understand how to do this at first. Then, I went and looked at the discussion board for class which helped out a bit. I am still not sure I did it correctly. For the different aspects of class I included my blog, Google Docs, Power Point, FTP, and Photostory. I included the Power Point and Photostory because I believe they are two of the most useful things I have learned. I could have added Movie Maker instead of Photostory because I thought they were pretty similar. I couldn't get my Google Docs or FTP site to be able to load separately so I included examples of things I have saved in these formats. I did a circle map because I think they are relatively equal in importance. When I saved the slide as a JPEG it was 47 KB and that is the one that inserted here. I orginally saved it as bitmap and that was 676 KB.
I think the use of flow charts and the charts you can select on Power Point can be very useful with showing relationships. Also, showing students how what they are doing is connected can be useful as well. Here is the link to my Power Point Show that has the slide in which I made my chart. I hope I did this right. :)

self portrait

I drew myself on Paint. I chose brown for my hair and eyes and did a profile view. I added a blonde streak in my hair because I have one blonde streak. It's my little way of being unique. I then transfered it to my FTP site and now it is here for your viewing pleasure :)

Reflection

The reflection paper was pretty time consuming. The most difficult part was determining which standards to add into the table. All in all, I think it went pretty well. I hope everyone else is progressing as much as I am in this class. Here is my reflection in my Google Doc form. :)

jeopardy correction

well I thought I had all my jeopardy kinks out of it, but I noticed that there were still a couple mistakes. I have corrected them and here is what I hope is a flawless version. I hope this won't take my points away.

Jeopardy

I thought this Jeopardy idea is a really good idea. In my field experience I was with a teacher who used jeopardy but he did it on the board and then would read the questions out loud. I think this is a really good idea because you can save the template and just change the questions and category names. I really liked it, even if it was a little bit time consuming. I think the students will really be able to get into a game like this. I did mine on a review for WWI. Here it is.

The photostory was pretty simple to use, especially since I have already used it. I am starting to feel a little overwhelmed with everything that I have going on now. I am determined to stay on task though. Hope everyone is doing well in all of your classes :) Here is my photostory.
